Original Prusa XL to Original Prusa XL+ Upgrade Kit

The XL+ features key upgrades that deliver faster print speeds, superior output quality, and a smoother, more reliable user experience. Meanwhile, the XL+ expands capability even further with an actively heated chamber ready for temperatures up to 60 °C. Through it all, the XL series maintains its position as the largest, most capable toolchanger on the market.

What's new in XL+?

The XL received a number of important upgrades that make the user experience and print quality better, speeds faster, and operation easier and even more reliable.

Faster calibration
The XL aligned its toolheads with a mechanical pin - accurate, but lengthy. The XL+ uses a dedicated electronic sensor to align toolheads fully automatically.

Faster printing
The XL+ prints 10–15% faster than the XL. On a 60-hour prop print, that's roughly eight hours back - one more evening in the workshop, or one more batch per day in production.

New Belts for Better Quality
The new GT1.5 belts also bring a visible improvement. They help make fine repeating artifacts less noticeable, which is especially useful on the large, smooth surfaces the XL is often used to print.

Cooling rebuilt for long runs
New, improved cooling on individual toolheads leads to perfect print quality and outstanding overhang performance - your prints will look better and you'll need fewer supports. Plus, there are additional fans and heatsinks to cool down the electronics.

A Nozzle Wiper
At the start of every print, every nozzle is cleaned using the nozzle wiper - more precise pre-print calibration, better looking prints.

A reliable firmware foundation
Every feature we shipped across the whole Prusa lineup since the XL launched is in the XL+ out of the box.

Please note: early XL models may require new Dwarf boards - see below.

Locate the Dwarf board serial number on all your toolheads to find out whether it's compatible with this upgrade.

If your Dwarf board is marked with a number 07 or lower, it is necessary to replace it with a new one before upgrading. Dwarf boards marked with 08 and higher are compatible with this upgrade.
