CarbonXâ„¢ PETG+CF is an improved CF reinforced 3D printing filament

carbon petg bsp

CarbonXâ„¢ PETG+CF is made in the USA using premium PETG and engineering-grade carbon fiber. CarbonXâ„¢ PETG+CF is an improved CF reinforced 3D printing filament vs. the competition. This filament is ideal for anyone that desires a structural component with high modulus, excellent surface quality, dimensional stability, light weight, and ease of printing.

Benefits of CarbonX PETG+CF

  • CarbonXâ„¢ PETG+CF is enhanced with carbon fiber, which significantly improves its mechanical strength, stiffness, and thermal properties compared to standard PETG.
  • Amorphous structure giving it low, near isotropic shrinkage
  • Low moisture absorption, 3x lower than ABS
  • Very low odor while printing
  • Wide processing range from 230 - 270 °C

Chemical Resistance of PETG

Unloaded tensile bars molded from PETG exhibit good resistance to dilute aqueous solutions of mineral acids, bases, salts, and soaps, as well as to aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and a variety of oils. Halogenated hydrocarbons, short-chain ketones, and aromatic hydrocarbons dissolve or swell the plastic.

Abrasive material

This material is particularly abrasive among 3D printing filaments. You'll find that standard brass nozzles wear out very quickly. As they wear out, the nozzle diameter expands unevenly, and the printer experiences extrusion issues. Therefore, use hardened steel nozzles with this filament to maximize the lifespan of the tool head and the quality of your prints! For this reason, we strongly recommend printing this material through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal.

Print Recommendations

  • Extruder
    230 - 260 °C
  • Heatbed
    70 - 90 °C
  • Nozzle Specs
Hardened Steel with .4mm diameter minimum
  • Layer Height
    0.25 mm or higher
The ideal layer height is 60% of the nozzle diameter. We recommend not printing layers below 0.25 mm with carbon fiber grades. A value below 0.25 mm can create excessive backpressure at the hot end, leading to poor feeding, jamming, drive gear clicking, and filament cutting.
  • Drying Specs
