3DXSTATâ„¢ ESD-SAFE PLA 3D-Filament von 3DXTECHâ„¢
3DXSTAT ESD-PLA is an advanced ESD-Safe compound designed for use in critical applications which require electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Made using cutting-edge multi-wall carbon nanotube technology, state of the art compounding technology, and precision extrusion processes. Target surface resistance: 10^7 to 10^9 Ohm.
Benefits of 3DXSTAT ESD-PLA
- Ideal for printing without a heated bed, no enclosure required
- Low shrinkage, warping, and easy printability, PLA prints on practically all desktop 3D printers
- Very low odor, perfect for printing in home or office environments
- Gorgeous surface quality to make printed parts look beautiful
- Made from plants makes PLA a renewable biopolymer
Typical applications are:
- Semi-con:
Hard drive components, enclosures, wafer handling, fixtures, housings, and connectors - Industrial:
Fixtures, conveying, dosing, end-of-arm tools and sensor applications
Target conductivity for 3DXSTATâ„¢ ESD PLA
- Specification: 10^6 to 10^9 ohm surface resistance on a 3DP sample using the concentric ring method, target 10^7 ohm.
- Note: Internal studies have shown that higher extruder temperatures can achieve higher conductivity. Likewise, lower extruder temperatures have resulted in lower conductivity. Every printer is set up differently and has different part geometries, so please expect some testing time to understand how this filament performs in your specific printer/application.
Surface conductivity as a function of extruder temperature
The surface resistance of the printed ESD-safe part depends on the printer's extruder temperature. For example, if your tests indicate that the part is too insulating, increasing the extruder temperature will result in improved conductivity. Therefore, the surface resistance can be "dialed" up or down by adjusting the extruder temperature depending on the reading you receive from your side.
Print Recommendations
- Extruder
210 - 240 °C
ESD PLA is a filled product and has a higher melt viscosity than unfilled PLA. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to print at higher temperatures than your standard PLA to allow the resin to flow properly. - Heatbed
23 - 60 °C - Heated Chamber
Not required - Nozzle Specs
No special concerns - Layer Height
No special concerns - Drying Specs
65 °C for 4 hours
